The LIFE MERCURY FREE project, stands as a pioneering initiative in the field of environmental protection and public health. The project focuses on reducing mercury exposure across Europe by combining education, research, and active community involvement. Mercury remains one of the most dangerous pollutants, capable of bioaccumulating in living organisms and affecting both ecosystems and human health. By aligning with the goals of the EU Green Deal and the Minamata Convention on Mercury, LIFE MERCURY FREE contributes directly to building a sustainable and toxin-free future.
Throughout its implementation, the project has developed and disseminated a wide range of educational tools and awareness campaigns to inform citizens, schools, and stakeholders about the risks of mercury and the importance of safe waste management. Workshops, infodays, newsletters, and roundtables organized by Innovation Hive have fostered dialogue between municipalities, environmental organizations, and educational institutions.
