Mercury pollution is a pressing concern in our modern world. Despite its toxic nature, mercury is still found in many everyday items, including batteries, cosmetics, and even certain types of fish. This toxic metal has a detrimental impact on both human health and the environment. In humans, mercury exposure can lead to a range of health problems, from neurological disorders to kidney damage. Vulnerable populations, such as pregnant women and children, are particularly at risk. The toxic effects of mercury can be subtle and may not manifest immediately, making it even more insidious. It’s crucial for individuals to be aware of the sources of mercury exposure in their daily lives to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Addressing mercury pollution requires a collective effort, starting with raising awareness and understanding of the issue. This is where the LIFE MERCURY-FREE project comes into play. The project aims to measure citizens’ awareness of the harmfulness of mercury-containing household goods. By understanding the factors that influence people’s choices regarding these products and the motivations behind these choices, the project seeks to develop recommendations to eliminate mercury-containing goods from our homes in a responsible manner. This not only protects our health but also contributes to preventing environmental pollution caused by hazardous waste.
To achieve these goals, the LIFE MERCURY-FREE project has launched an online survey. This survey is available in 6 EU languages (Greek, Ukrainian, English, Italian, Polish and Portuguese) and will take approximately 15 minutes of your time, your participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous. Your honest responses will play a vital role in shaping recommendations to make our homes and our environment mercury-free. By taking part in this survey, you become a part of the solution. You contribute to raising pro-ecological awareness among European citizens and play a crucial role in safeguarding our environment and future generations.
Your participation in their online survey is an important step towards a mercury-free future, protecting human health and the environment alike. By taking action today, you become an integral part of the solution, fostering ecological awareness and ensuring a cleaner, safer world for generations to come.
