The Great Badminton Tournament occurred at the Lodz University of Technology

On April 11, 2025, the Great Badminton Tournament occurred at the Lodz University of Technology, attracting many enthusiasts of this dynamic sport.

Ultimately, 32 female and 32 male competitors took part in the event – 49 students and 16 employees of the University, who were welcomed by Prof. Volodymyr Mosorow – the head of the Life Mercury Free project and, on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Ewa Brochocka (see photo below).

In the tournament, which took place in the Zatoka Sportu of the Lodz University of Technology, competitors competed in various categories, presenting their skills and fighting for valuable prizes funded by the Life Mercury Free project.

In addition to fierce but fair competition, participants had the opportunity to learn more about how mercury can affect our health and the environment, and how important it is to handle products containing this substance properly. It was a perfect opportunity to increase our awareness of the dangers associated with the presence of mercury in household products and to promote safe disposal methods.

At the same time, the Great Table Tennis Tournament took place, which attracted many enthusiasts of this dynamic sport. In the tournament, which took place in the hall of the Sports Center of the Lodz University of Technology, 34 female and 40 male players competed, who were welcomed by the hostess of the facility, Dr. Ewa Brochocka, and Dr. Eng. Jacek Nowakowski from the Life Mercury Free project (see photo below). As part of the promotion of pro-health and pro-ecological activities, the Life Mercury free project, which aims to eliminate mercury from everyday life and increase social awareness of its harmfulness, supported the table tennis tournament by sponsoring prizes. The event was not only a sports competition, but also an excellent opportunity to educate participants about the impact of mercury on health and the environment. Participants could learn how important it is to handle products containing this toxic substance responsibly and how important safe methods of their disposal are. Such initiatives show that actions for the protection of health and the environment can be effectively combined with social activity and integration.
